A New Calling

Joseph Travers, the co-founder of our own beloved organization, Saved In America, has more than 40 years of experience within the criminal justice system as a former police officer. He was also a police and fire commissioner for the City of Oceanside throughout his illustrious career and is a pastor who is committed to sharing the love of Christ with the world. However, after reading an article about a girl who has abducted while on vacation, Joseph knew that he had to do more than what he was able to do as a former police officer or even a current pastor to fight against the horrors of human trafficking. After hearing about the disturbing case that got his attention, he met with groups of experts with various experiences both in the military and law. Together they formed Saved In America, a non-profit organization with the ultimate goal of finding missing girls, and rescuing them from the horrors of sex trafficking within the borders of the United States.

The Beginnings of a Mission

Travers new calling was to fight against modern-day slavery through the launch of our organization, Saved In America. SIA launched the first successful recovery in 2014. Since that time, more than 260 children have been returned to their guardians or parents through the efforts of Saved In America, all free of charge to the parents. Not only is Travers a part of Saved In America, but also a successful author of various books about private investigation and how to find missing children.

Travers Considers Saved In America a Calling

During an interview with Travers, he was asked why he felt led to start Saved In America in the first place. He said without hesitation that it was a calling, a mission, a ministry. It’s not something to do after retirement from the police force. Instead, it is a continuation of that work, stepping in and filling in the gaps which law enforcement cannot meet. Although law enforcement desires to address the growing problem of human trafficking in America, they are simply understaffed to do the necessary, arduous work of tracking down a runaway. Thankfully, Saved In America is serving a very real purpose of standing in the gap and providing this service for communities throughout the United States. #ChildSavedNotSold
