Trust before exploitation

How Traffickers Build Trust Before Exploitation

Trafficking rarely starts with force.

It often begins with kindness. We touched on this in a recent interview with doctor wendy.

Traffickers are skilled at identifying emotional gaps loneliness, insecurity, or a need for validation.

They may:

  • Offer compliments and attention

  • Pretend to understand personal struggles

  • Slowly isolate the victim from others

This process can take days, weeks, or even months.

By the time exploitation begins, the victim often believes they are in a relationship not a dangerous situation.

Understanding this process is key to stopping it early.
