Recovery Really Looks Like

What Recovery Really Looks Like

When a child is recovered from exploitation, the story does not end there.

The National Child Traumatic Stress Network explains that victims of trafficking often experience complex trauma and require trauma informed, long term care (NCTSN, “Trauma Informed Care for Trafficking Survivors”).

The Office for Victims of Crime emphasizes that recovery includes mental health services, stable housing, medical care, legal advocacy, and ongoing support (DOJ OVC).

Research consistently shows that trauma recovery is not immediate. It requires safety, stability, and consistent care.

Rescue is urgent.
Healing is long term.

Both matter.
