Why Survivors Deserve Privacy, Not Public Curiosity

Increased awareness of trafficking has brought attention but it has also created new risks for survivors. Public curiosity, speculation, and social media commentary can unintentionally cause further harm.

Survivors are not stories for public consumption. Details shared without consent can retraumatize victims, compromise investigations, or expose survivors to stigma and retaliation. Ethical advocacy prioritizes dignity over visibility.

Organizations like National Center for Missing & Exploited Children stress the importance of confidentiality and survivor-centered practices. Respecting privacy is not secrecy it is protection.

Saved in America remains committed to advocacy that safeguards survivors while supporting accountability. Awareness must never come at the expense of a child’s healing.
