Prevention

Prevention Starts at Home

Prevention is not about fear it is about preparation. Families play a critical role in reducing vulnerability by creating safe, open environments where children feel heard and protected.

Open communication is foundational. Children who feel safe discussing uncomfortable topics are more likely to disclose concerns early. Conversations about boundaries, online behavior, and healthy relationships should be ongoing, not one-time talks.

Monitoring online activity without secrecy or shame helps identify risk. Parents should understand the platforms their children use and who they are communicating with.

Strong relationships are one of the most powerful protective factors against trafficking. When children know they are valued and supported, traffickers have less influence.
