The Role

The Role of Technology in Modern Trafficking

Trafficking today is not a back alley crime.
It’s a digital operation.

Traffickers use technology to:
• identify vulnerable children
• monitor their schedules
• track their locations
• build secret communication channels
• store images and information
• manipulate them through digital control

Apps with disappearing messages, anonymous profiles, or encrypted chats create the illusion of safety but they become tools for exploitation.

Traffickers know how to:
• create fake accounts
• mirror peer language
• use filters to appear younger
• move conversations off platform
• hide their identity

This is why digital safety is no longer “optional.”
It’s a core part of parenting.

Awareness begins with understanding the online terrain. When parents know how predators use technology, they can protect their children from the hidden dangers behind the screen.
