Sounds of Freedom

Based on an astounding true story, the Sound of Freedom from Angel Studios— starring Jim Caviezel, Bill Camp, and Mira Sorvino— tells the real-life story of Tim Ballard, a former US government agent. The premise behind the film is to show what led Tim Ballard to quit his job as a US agent and commit himself to saving children from human trafficking. This movie uses cutting-edge cinematography to present the real-life story that more than two million children worldwide face daily.

Human Trafficking is a Growing Problem

As part of the film introduction, viewers learn that human trafficking, known as modern-day slavery, is currently the fastest-growing international crime network. It has astoundingly passed the scope of the illegal arms trade and only remains behind the drug trade, though it is closing in all the time. This movie gives a powerful behind-the-scenes glimpse of the industry and highlights the work many do to combat growth within the industry.

How Saved in America is Similar

In the film, Tim Ballard, serving as a US agent is asked to help find a young girl after he rescues her seven-year-old brother. When he does this, he discovers that his real mission, the one he wants to forfeit his career up to that point to pursue, is to rescue children from this horrendous industry. Although not the same, SIA’s founder Joseph Travers also followed a mission to open up his heart and give of his knowledge towards fighting human trafficking here within the confines of the United States. SIA has successfully helped rescue over 260 girls who had run away or were missing, many of them before they were trapped within the industry.

Why Media Like This Is Important

Many people are unaware of the dangers that are present all around us, every day. This movie showcases what goes on in the shadows, and though it highlights more global cases, it still reveals the evils of the industry that has taken up residence right within the borders of the most blessed nation on the planet, America. That is why SIA and its efforts are so needed in today’s evil society. Watching this movie will only further explain the way the industry works and expose why awareness and more organizations like SIA are needed.
